La inspiración: El desarrollo de esta fragancia fue muy personal. Hace tiempo que quería hacer una fragancia de Rice, pero a pesar de varios esfuerzos, no pude encontrar nada satisfactorio. Luego, en un viaje a Taiwán, visité una fábrica, y a cada lado de la fábrica había un arrozal vivo y en funcionamiento. A la primera oportunidad me escabullí y pasé 30 minutos contemplando ese arrozal e inhalando su aroma. Fue esa experiencia la que intenté capturar en esta fragancia.

Nice, but a little odd
"I find that Demeter's scents share a common "base note" so that many of them smell very similar after a while, and differ mainly by their subtle overtones or undertones. Rice Paddy is like that -- it has that basic, sweetish "Demeter" vibe -- with a strong overtone of warm sushi rice and a weaker undertone of wet greenery. It's nice (especially once it fades a bit), but I do find the warm sushi-rice element of the aroma to be a bit odd as a body fragrance. Mind you, I do love many of the unusual fragrances in the Demeter library (one of my favorites is Earthworm), but this one is a little too "foody" for my personal taste... But I had high hopes for it, maybe my opinion will change, in time :-)"

"This is INTENSELY rice-y at first! It smells like when I make rice "oatmeal" by adding a bit of brown sugar and vanilla almond milk, but with a hint of green that makes it not entirely a gourmand scent (or else it is a gourmand scent, eating rice oatmeal in a grassy garden). After a few minutes, the intense scent of sweet puffed rice mellows out to mix with more brown sugar and caramel with a pleasant nutty note. It smells delectable, and I agree with another reviewer that it smells almost like butterscotch with toasted rice and sugar cane."

"One of my all time favorite Demeter fragrances, Rice Paddy is an eclectic blend of BUTTERY GREENS: Think: Creamy Buttery Top Notes, with a crisp green finish. I layer it with it's matching lotion, and frequently blend it with BAIHAO YINZHEN TEA . Also blends well with CHAI TEA. All together a unique and fabulous scent for every day."

That quickly changed to a very fresh, blue-sky sort of smell with the slight sweetness of greenery.
