"On it's own this scent is odd. It is soapy yet leathery. I remember spraying it in the air at my favorite second hand shop feeling intoxicated. Flash forward 10 years and it is still perplexing. I highly recommend it just as a room spray. But if you are looking to create a perfume it is a solid base for masculine leaning fragrance. Blend it with beeswax!!"

"for years, I have sampled the demeter catalog, hoping to find one that spoke to me. none was quite right. in fact, just today I was telling someone that I wished I could wear mahogany but it was just too masculine. then my little bottle of saffron arrived in the mail. my immediate reaction was "oh my god!" I found it! it's warm, spicy, and inviting, without smelling like I've just rubbed up against my boyfriend. it would pair wonderfully with a sweet fruit scent, but I love it as is."

"Saffron belongs in a scent family with Fig Leaf and Giant Sequoia, but Saffron is the more masculine version. Really difficult to describe, but maybe vaguely wood-like (like a light wood, not dark), a little leathery, and subtly sweet. It's sexy and young and exotic. It's name and description don't make it seem like what it really smells like, but i guess they had a hard time describing it, too. Maybe it shares something with Ginseng, as well? Easily works for a woman, too, but I'd prefer it on my guy..."

"I thought this would be a funny purchase but I was curious anyway, so I bought it. I was hugely surprised when turned out to be a go-to scent. It's just unique, it doesn't remind me of any other perfume. It does smell spicy, but it's absolutely wearable. I usually look like a little girl, but this fragrance makes me feel really distinguished without smelling like mainstream expensive perfume. Also, I layers really well with other scents. Lovely."
