The Scent: This is not exactly your father's Humidor. It is the scent of a professional Humidor you would walk into in a tobacco shop. Demeter's Humidor scent is a balanced and irresistible combination of the tobacco, spices and ozone of a large, retail Humidor.
The Inspiration: The Founder - Christopher Gable used to give his Dad cigars every Christmas. It became sort of a family joke because Christopher and his Dad knew his mother couldn't abide the odor of them. Christopher came to think that really she was right, but he loved the scent of the cigars before they're smoked, right in the humidor where they're kept.
On a trip to Montreal a few years ago, in the hotel, where he was staying there was a walk-in humidor in the gift shop. He was greeted by a mixture of alarm and confusion but allowed to proceed. Inside the small glass room was the mixtures of rich tobaccos he had expected, but also the ozone smell of cold in the air, not exactly refrigerant, but simply that manufactured "cold" scent. Lovely together. We worked on it till we got both those elements in proper balance for this scent.

"There is a strong clove note in this, but I think it totally works in this fragrance. What I get from this is a prominent clove note, then something like black tea or tobacco leaves, but more on the dry side, and then a kind of slightly red cedar incense effect, with the vaguest generalization of an indistinct tobacco-like effect. There is also the tiniest hint of vanilla in the drydown, not at all noticeable at first. Overall I would say the notes in this fragrance are very well balanced. I notice what feels like it might be a hint of carnation flower, which works great here. This kind of really does give the impression of dried cigars in a humidor room, how it feels even more than the exact smell. I would say this is a gender neutral fragrance, could be worn by either man or woman. The fragrance is very natural-smelling and there is nothing about it that seems overpowering (like many synthetic fragrances can often be)."

"Humidor smells like cedar, dried tobacco leaf, and a faint hint of cloves. Little throw initially; with time the tobacco leaf gains strength and starts to dominate, its earthy strength making it a lovely heart note. The tobacco leaf (not cigar, not pipe tobacco) is dead on, and that’s high praise from a Kentucky girl. Excellent. One of my favorites."

"I love this and I love to spray it on liberally. Reminds me of my favorite uncles during the holidays. it smells like Pipes and cigars with fancy scented tobacco, everyone has a glass of fine whisky, a fire in the fireplace, there are oranges with cloves stuck in them scenting and decorating the room, the fireplace is crackling, someone opens a door and there is a whiff of fresh air. Gosh I Love this stuff"
