The Story: Our favorite pomegranate story, not surprisingly, is the Greek myth of Persephone. Hades abducts the beautiful daughter of Zeus and Demeter, our namesake, and carries Persephone to the Underworld. Tempted by the luscious Pomegranate, Persephone is made his eternal queen by eating its seeds, only able to return above ground for six months, her return heralding the arrival of Spring.
The Scent: Given that heritage, Pomegranate by the Demeter Fragrance Library had to be great, and this one is, capturing all the freshness and deep, sweet, citrus flavor that tempted Persephone in the first place.

"I purchased this as a roll-on and it is was clear that this oil was different than the rest. It's a deep goldenrod in color, a bit cloudy in nature, and overpowering out of the bottle with the lid closed. I thought it had leaked when I received my shipment due to the amount of smell coming from it, but there was no oil spilled!! This is a powerful fragrance-- a deep tangy top note of a fresh cracked pomegranate--it barely can be supported by anything that doesn't directly contrast in smell. While it completely overpowers Peach and Tangerine; it works wonderful with Sandalwood and Rose. For me, the scent Pomegranate act as a natural sour candy coating around the scent mixtures. I have to use only a little for a lasting sugary tang, but be careful not to over wear!"

"I can't place which kind of bubblegum, mind you, but it triggered an instantaneous memory. Either Bubbilicious or Bubble Yum. Exactly. Very sweet, but gone in a matter of minutes, with a powdery dryout that I like much better. In other words, nothing like real pomegranates at all. It's definitely juicy, but not a hint of tartness, and any citrus notes that may be present are the very first thing to disappear."
