The Scent & The Story: Co-Founder Christopher Gable's mother got a silver dish from local Ladies Club (in the 60s when there still were such things). The dish sat in the china closet and came out (perhaps) at Thanksgiving. But, the wonderful thing it acquired during its solitude was the beautiful tangy-old-silvery scent of Tarnish. And here it is.

"This is a single note of something delightful, neutral (to me, neither masculine or feminine). I agree with the description in that it is reminiscent of something metallic, and sure, I'll play along with the Tarnish tale. It smells pretty much like nothing else I can identify as either botanical or animal. I love these kind of mystery scents. I'll be ordering more of this, and I look forward to more completely new creations of notes."
"I think any musicians who play an instrument will understand my description. i got Tarnish for my brother, who is a trumpet player and loves the smell of opening his trumpet case. but this is not the smell of opening the case of a silver instrument (i guess that's made of the case components, like leather and wood and spilled valve oil?). Instead, Demeter's Tarnish is the smell of the instrument itself, freshly polished. Tangy and bright, actually really attractive! he liked it, too, and was surprised it smells like a legit cologne, rather than being a novelty scent. i liked it too. it's great as a men's cologne."
